The RHAM Education Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan, tax exempt community volunteer organization, committed to actively promoting, enriching and enhancing educational opportunities for all within a dynamic, collaborative partnership between our school and greater community.

What is the Foundation's Purpose?

The purpose of the Foundation is to raise funds in support of exceptional and inspiring educational enrichment opportunities.

What are the Benefits of Forming and Education Foundation?

The Foundation will seek to:

>> Reflect the pride we take in the realization that our school is at the heart of our community

>> Enhance and build upon the principles that community involvement is a key factor in successful schools and that outstanding public schools benefit the entire community

>> Engage new partners in education and deepen community support for education

>> Promote public/private partnerships to enable our school and the community to benefit from corporate grants and matching gifts

>> Fund education programs, projects, and community based education initiatives that would not otherwise be included in the school budget or town budgets

>> Provide tax-deductible opportunities to support our children and educational programs in the community

What is the Foundation's Relationship to the Board of Education?

The Foundation is a non-political entity independent of both the Board of Education and Regional School District 8. The Foundation is not an alternative funding source for the school nor will it fund items or programs considered to be a normal part of the annual school budget. In partnership with the school and community the Foundation seeks to raise money for innovative educational programsand initiatives for which loacal, state, and federal funds are not available. The RHAM Education Foundation seeks to raise financial resources to support promising pilot projects and to encourage innovation in teaching and learning.

Is the Idea for an Education Foundation Unique?

No. Since 1978, over 3,000 communities across the nation have established education foundations with similar missions. There are 80 established education foundations in Connecticut with more in the process of becoming organized.

How Can I Be a Supporter?

The Foundation eagerly welcomes your ideas and invites you to become involved by supporting the Foundation's efforts through community partnerships which enable innovative educational oppportunities for learning at every age. We hope you support the Foundation's efforts as a volunteer or with a donation. Individuals, businesses, community groups, and civic organizations may support the Foundation's endeavor with a tax-deductible contribution.
